If you haven’t read yet my thoughts on the first part of this book, then check out my previous post. I finished Again, but Better yesterday and, to be honest, I had to sleep on it. I did not know what to write. So, I will start with things I liked in this book: a) I really liked that this book deals with teenage mental health and tells us how it’s important to fight for your dreams b) I’m a huge fan of travelling which happened so many times in this book c) friendship – I enjoyed friendship and it is described nicely. My favorite friendship is the one between Shane and Babe, I loved how they two grew close throughout the story.
But… this book is wrong on so many levels. I know this is Christine’s debut, but some things cannot be forgiven. What’s up with all that cheating in the book? I can’t forget it and it really bothered me throughout the book. Also, I have feeling that the author wanted this book to be everything: magic, lgbt, romance, self help, and much more. The author skips from one topic to another and it’s a mess. Moreover, I hate Shane’s parents. Her dad is abusive and I can’t forget it. It was difficult with Shane’s immaturity, but at some point (maybe) I understand. However, I much more liked the first part of the book and I just wanted the second part to be over.
I am glad I gave this book second chance, it was really ‘again, but better’, so here is my new rating. I give this book three and half stars. However, I don’t plan on reading other books written by Christine Riccio, she is much better booktuber.
