Christine Riccio is one of my favorite booktuber, so when she published her first book, I really wanted to read it. The first time I picked it up, I did not finish it. I got bored and left it at first 100 pages.
Few years after that, I’ve decided to give it a second try. So, here we are again. I started reading it last night and I’m already halfway through it. I have to admit that I’ve judged this book way too early. Of course it has some issues, but overall I kind of like it. It’s not that bad so far. The plot is easy to follow and I like the idea behind it. I can actually see why the author chose to deal with these topics. So, while I was reading, I wrote down few things I like and I don’t like in this book:
Things that I like: a) it’s a cute, interesting story b) I love the setting and description c) I love the idea behind it [if you really want it, then go for it]
However, there are few concerning facts about this book: a) all that kissing and cheating does not look good in book b) what’s up with the character’s names? (This one I don’t find bad, just maybe a bit odd):Shane, Babe, Pilot… c) the lack of complexity – I usually prefer to keep things simple, but in this book the author’s writing style is too simple and because of that, I find it difficult to relate to the characters.
To sum it up, I’m quite enjoying reading this book and I really want to see the end. Maybe there’s a reason for all of this mess.
